My wedding dress was ready for the 1st fitting after all the alterations, so mom, Sally, Claire, and I went up to Monicas to see the dress. I was so nervous to see it because I had not since I had given it to her. I didn't know if after all the alterations and cutting up my mother's wedding dress it was even going to look like I had pictured it. My stomach was in knots.
The minute I laid my eyes on it I was in-love with my wedding dress. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was, just like I had pictured it all these months. The alterations were done perfectly and it truly was MY dress!!! I tried it on for the fitting and everything fit amazingly!
She pinned up the skirt where she is going to put in the bussle while we were there. There are still a few pieces of lace she has to put back on the top of the dress as well, but everything else is completely done!!
I can't wait to go back for the final fitting and see exactly how it will look on my wedding day. I can now breathe lighter knowing that the choice to alter my mothers wedding dress was the absolute best. It is exaclty how I've always pictured my wedding dress. Thanks again to my mother for allowing me to alter her dress and the honor of wearing it in my own wedding.
I love my wedding dress so very much!
Can't wait to wear it this October to marry my best friend.

Finally An Update
Wow! Time has flown by! I have been so busy with my first year of teaching, but we have also been VERY busy planning!! Many updates to share, so I have broken them up to make it easier to read;
DJ:
Mom and I went to a bridal show in January and got information on DJ's. I really liked one of them, so Matt and I set up an appointment to meet with them. Our meeting went really good and they answered all the questions we had. We are getting a bigger package which includes our monogram, t.v. screens to show pictures on, and the most important part, some uplights that will give our reception site a little more atmosphere and extra lighting.
Catering:
We looked at Schnitzelbank's menu and called them to do a tasting. The food we tasted was wonderful, so we set our menu with them. We are so pleased with our food choices! Hopefully our guests will like it as much as we did.
Photography:
We met with the photographer and went over the style of pictures we want at our wedding. We also set up a date and time this summer to take our engagement pictures...almost two years after our engagement! :) Hoping to get some great pictures to put in our frames that our guests will be signing!
Bridesmaids:
I had been on the hunt for bridesmaid dresses for a long time, and Mom and I decided to go to Macy's just to see what they had. We found the bridesmaid dresses!!! They are so beautiful and comfortable for the girls! I can't wait to see all of them in the dresses on wedding day!
Groomsmen:
At the bridal show mom and I went to we signed up to get our tuxes at Men's Warehouse and got an extra 20% off each tux. Matt and I went into our local Men's Warehouse and picked out his tux as well as the ones for the groomsmen. They are going to look pretty spiffy!
My Ring:
We got the ring that I had picked out a while ago over winter. They were having a huge sale so mom my went ahead and got it and then we were able to pay her back very quickly. I absolutely LOVE the ring that I picked out. It makes my beautiful engagement ring stand out from the band! Thanks mom! You're the best!!
Matt's Ring:
Tonight we went and picked Matt's ring out. I tried to get him to go more fancy, but he just wanted a plain band. I actually love the one he ended up picking. We had to order it in his size, so it should be here in 50 or so days, although we have plenty of time!
Wedding Dress:
I took the wedding dress to Monica over winter break and she has been busy working on it. I am supposed to call her this week to schedule the next fitting, the first one since the alterations. I'm so excited to see it, but also very nervous. There is something worrisome about taking your mother's wedding dress apart. Can't wait to lay eyes on it to see that everything is how we thought it would be...I will keep you updated!
Well, I think that is all the updating I need to do! I can't believe it has been so long since the last one, but this last month has been a big planning time for us. With so many things getting accomplished, I am getting even more anxious for our wedding. Everything is all coming together and I can picture it all in my head!
Hoping to post again soon with more wedding updates!
Until then...

Engaged a Year!
Wow! Time is flying by! September 3 marked the anniversary of our engagement. I can't believe it's already been a year. When we set our wedding date for two years after our engagement, I thought that it would feel like forever. Now I'm so happy that we made that decision. With me having my first teaching job and time rushing by, the extra time is exactly what we need to make our wedding day as special as we hope. We have both been very busy just keeping up with life, so we haven't done much wedding planning recently. My mom did get us our cake cutting set and it matches our toasting flutes very nicely. She also found a purple box for the gift table to put cards in. Thanks mom! I have been looking at styles of bridesmaid dresses recently, as we are coming up on a year till the wedding, but we are still holding off on getting them just yet. In a couple weeks we will mark our 4 year anniversary of dating. I can't believe we have been together that long, and yet I feel we have known each other our whole lives. I feel so blessed to have found my soul mate. We hope to get some more things accomplished this fall. As always, I will keep you updated :)

Invitations and Pretty Baskets
Yesterday was a big day as far as the wedding. Mom and I went ahead and got the invitations and matching thank you notes for the wedding. They are so beautiful! They didn't have the programs that match in stock so we had to special order them. They should be in sometime this month. We also got the flower girl baskets and the ring pillow, which are perfect for the wedding! While we were shopping we also picked up part of the bridesmaids gifts... I can't wait to give them to the girls! Last night Matt and I went to several jewelry stores to look at wedding bands and I think I have found the perfect one for me. We are going to wait awhile to purchase them, but I was happy to know that there is a wedding band that I like. It is so much fun planning the wedding and sharing this process with Matt, my family, and friends.

Toasting Glasses and More
Well, now that Mom and I have got wedding back on our brains we are getting some things done. We wanted to get something ordered last night and get back to our "at least one thing a month" plan. We found some beautiful toasting glasses that Matt also really liked and placed the order. They should be here next week, and our June task is accomplished! Matt and I have also decided on the invitations and the cake we want. I plan on getting the guest list finalized this weekend, so we will be able to order the wedding invitations next week, while the ones we like are still available. Mom and I have also been looking at readings and picking out ones that we like. Now I just have to run them by Matt and that task will be done as well. I'm excited to finally be getting back to planning our wedding. All the details we have picked out so far are beautiful. I can't wait for everything to come together on our wedding day :)

Summer Planning
It has been such a long time since I have written an update. The wedding planning had stopped for awhile due to my college graduation and moving home. Mom and I have recently gotten back on track and are starting to get some things done again. This week we went to Michael's and Hobby Lobby to look at their wedding aisles. They had some really nice things. Right now we are trying to get some small details done such as the aisle runner, flower girl baskets, cake topper, tulle, etc. We have also started looking at invitations and vendors, which will take a little longer to decide on. We have not bought anything recently or locked in any ideas, but I'm sure there will be updates soon because we have wedding planning on our minds again. I'm enjoying the wedding planning very much and taking my time to make our special day wonderful.

1st Dress Fitting
Today we had the first wedding dress fitting with Monica, the one who is doing the alterations to my mother's wedding dress. We told her what we wanted to do to modernize it and she said that she could do it all very easily. I'm so excited to finally know that the dress will be able to be altered to look modern and fit me perfectly! I'm so confident in Monica and I know it will look absolutely beautiful when she is done with it. She is going to take measurements and start altering late this summer when she finishes her sewing room in her home. For now I'm satisfied that everything is going to work out. Another good note: We bought a Spanks type thing to thin me in the dress and it worked very well. It made my waist line look so good. We also experimented with the length of the veil and decided fingertip length would be best to go with the dress. It was such a nice day! My aunts and cousin came to see the dress and give their opinions. We had a small lunch, chocolate cake, and mimosas! It was great girl time and I felt like the bride to be!
